Netflix has acquired the adaptation rights to multiple comic properties, including the horror hit Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees and Geoff Johns' Geiger, according to a report from The Comics Beat. The streaming giant's move signals a continued push into comic-based IP beyond its existing Marvel and DC projects.
Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees, written and illustrated by Patrick Horvath and published by IDW, became a breakout success in 2025 with its twist on small-town horror. The series follows a suburban neighborhood hiding a dark secret beneath its idyllic surface. Geiger, part of Johns' Ghost Machine imprint at Image Comics, centers on a post-apocalyptic survivor transformed by radiation into a glowing protector of his family.
The acquisitions come as Netflix ramps up its comic adaptation slate following the success of properties like The Umbrella Academy and Heartstopper. The company has been actively courting independent publishers and creator-owned properties rather than relying solely on Big Two superhero franchises.
