Distribution of 2000 AD and Judge Dredd Megazine has been delayed after their UK printer entered administration this week. The printer shutdown disrupts a decades-old supply chain for Rebellion's flagship anthology titles, which have published continuously since 1977 (2000 AD) and 1990 (Megazine).

The timing hits during a crucial period for both books. 2000 AD typically ships weekly, and any gap breaks the rhythm for serialized stories from creators such as Pat Mills, John Wagner, and a rotating roster of international talent. The Megazine runs monthly but anchors a dedicated collector base that prizes complete runs. Rebellion has not yet announced which print facility will take over or how many issues will be compressed or rescheduled.

UK print administration often leads to asset sales or closures, and comic publishers face fewer backup options than mainstream magazine clients. Rebellion owns its IP and printing infrastructure for graphic novels, but periodicals rely on third-party offset presses with the capacity for high-frequency, lower-run jobs. Rival printers may lack open press time, especially as the industry consolidates.

Delays also ripple into the North American market, where Diamond and Lunar distribute both titles to comic shops. Retailers order 2000 AD issues through Previews several months in advance, and shipping gaps create shelf holes and customer frustration. Digital editions on the 2000 AD app remain on schedule, but print collectors represent a significant portion of the audience for these legacy books.

Why it matters: Printer collapses can cascade across the periodical market. If Rebellion cannot secure replacement capacity quickly, other UK publishers using the same facility face similar delays, and the incident underscores the fragility of the print supply chain as the industry shrinks. For collectors, interruptions to continuous numbering or scheduling can depress back-issue and subscription values, particularly for titles with 40-plus-year publication histories.

Disney unveiled a commemorative plaque for Jack Kirby at Avengers Campus. The plaque was installed at Disney California Adventure's Avengers Campus on August 28, Kirby's birthday. It marks the first permanent Disney Parks tribute to the artist who co-created the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, and dozens of other Marvel characters. Kevin Smith limited his Star Wars/Marvel crossover to A New Hope characters only. Smith told interviewers he chose to feature only heroes and villains from the original 1977 film in the upcoming Hope Assembles miniseries, excluding characters introduced in Empire or Jedi. The five-issue series pairs classic Avengers with Luke, Leia, Han, and Darth Vader in a story set to publish ahead of A New Hope's 50th anniversary in May 2027.
